The earliest record we have of our McPherson ancestors is in Inverness, Scotland. Ewen McPherson was born there in 1515, and our branch of his decsendants lived there until sometime between 1701 and 1740. He and his direct-line sons where captains of the Clan Chattan until the mid 1600s.
Donald (Domhnall) McPherson was born in Inverness on August 30, 1701. He came to North America and by the time he died in 1740 in Port Tobacco, Maryland, he had married and had six children.
Over the next hundred years his descendants slowly moved westward through Tennessee and Arkansas, until Joel Walter McPherson was born in Uvalde, Texas in 1872. The McPhersons are now spread all over the USA.
