| In the fall of
1943 four of Francisco Muxó's five children: Rafael,
Esther, Hector and Hirán, gathered in a park in New York
City. Hector had returned on leave from the war in
Germany, too late to presence the birth of his first
daughter. Hirán had come from Tampa to leave his bride
of several months, Ada McPherson, with his family while
he went off to OCS. Rafael had married Inés Quiñones on
July 4th of that year, and they had just returned from
Virginia where Rafael had worked on a project to build a
chemical plant. And Esther, who had worked steadily through
the Depression to help support the family, had married
José Coll on June 12th of that same year. |
